1 Samuel 30:6 – David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. In this study we will examine the King as a case study of how God is a never-depleting source of strength for us – in good times and in bad.
Job 3:20 – Why is light given to those in misery, and life to the bitter of soul. In this study, we will look at one of Job’s ‘why’s and without trying to answer his question, we will attempt to understand the emotions behind his question.
Ruth 1:21 – I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me. In this study, we will examine her sense of bitterness and what God ultimately had in store for her.
