Job 42:5 – My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. In this study we will examine the significance and difference to hearing of God versus ‘seeing’ him, and how this applies to us in our daily lives.
Job 2:9 – His wife said to him, “Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!” In the face of immense suffering we see two reactions – Job and his wife. In this study, we will lay out all the information on Job’s wife and speculate the reasons behind her reaction.
Lamentations 3:32 – But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. In this study we shall find hope in the book of Lamentations amidst all the tragedy and suffering.
Hebrews 2:18 – Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. He knows our pain when we suffer. He knows our struggle when we are tempted. He knows, because he has experienced it, and because he understands, he will come and help us in our times of temptation.
Job 2:10 tells us further about Job’s initial reaction towards the tragedy that he was dealt with. Here, we see how he responds to his wife and puts her in her place, and how in declaring the sovereignty of God, Job was affirmed to have not sinned.
